Abstract

Hormonal function of the adrenals of preadolescent and adult monkeys (Papio hamadryas) was examined by the metopyrone test. After a single injection of metopyrone the content of cortisol, 11-deoxycortisol, progesterone, pregnenolone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone and 17-hydroxypregnenolone was measured in the blood of monkeys by radioimmunoassay. The reasons for age-associated differences in the hormonal response of the primate adrenals to metopyrone injection are discussed. The conclusion is drawn on the advisability of a single metopyrone injection for studying functional reserves of the pituitary-adrenal system.

通过甲吡酮试验检测了青春期前和成年猴子(阿拉伯狒狒)肾上腺的激素功能。单次注射甲吡酮后,采用放射免疫分析法测定了猴子血液中皮质醇、11-脱氧皮质醇、孕酮、孕烯醇酮、17-羟孕酮和17-羟孕烯醇酮的含量。讨论了灵长类动物肾上腺对甲吡酮注射的激素反应存在年龄相关差异的原因。得出了单次注射甲吡酮用于研究垂体-肾上腺系统功能储备的可行性结论。
