Low titers of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is often found in mixed saliva of antigenemic individuals. In the present study the occurrence of antigen in saliva was correlated to the content of albumin, which is not synthesized by the salivary glands, but represents a leakage into the oral cavity due to hemorrhage, exudation or transudation. The presence of antigen in saliva was also correlated to the titer of antigen in serum.
低滴度的乙型肝炎表面抗原（HBsAg）常出现在抗原血症个体的混合唾液中。在本研究中，唾液中抗原的出现与白蛋白含量相关，白蛋白并非由唾液腺合成，而是因出血、渗出或漏出而进入口腔的成分。唾液中抗原的存在也与血清中抗原的滴度相关。
