Taking as examples the three most frequent diseases occurring in hospital and private practice, urolithiasis, prostatic hypertrophy and space-occupying processes of the kidney, the indications and contraindications of diagnostic and therapeutic measures are pointed out. It is found that even in future only a careful history and clinical findings lead to logical and rational use of technical possibilities.
