As shown by studies of kinetic properties of L- and D-forms of glycogen synthetase, isolated from rat brain, Km value of the L-form for UDPG was decreased in presence of glucose-6-phosphate; D-form of glycogen synthetase was active only in presence of relatively high concentration of glucose-6-phosphate. Molecular weight of L- and D-forms of glycogen synthetase, estimated using gel filtration, was equal to 172,000 and 183,000 daltons, respectively.
