A new case of alpha chain disease is described in an African negro (Zaïre). The initial diagnosis was lymphoma, diffuse immunoblastic type. serum protein electrophoresis exhibited a normal pattern but immunoelectrophoresis demonstrated alpha heavy chain without reactivity with anti light chains antisera. It seems to be the third case of alpha chain disease in a black patient.
