L-Ascorbic acid (0.57 mM) and dimethylsulfoxide (14.1 mM) were found to potentiate four times the antibacterial activities of daunomycin and adriamycin in the Staphylococcus aureus test. This effect, however, could not be demonstrated against eukaryotic cells and leukemia P 388 in mice.
