The curability of the transplantable Harding-Passey melanoma of the mouse was studied following acute irradiation under ambient and under anoxic conditions. The mean cure doses (44.1 and 56.1 Gy), the calculated fraction of hypoxic tumor cells (3%) and the slope of teh dose-effect curves do not revela any sign of enhanced radiation resistance in comparison with other animal tumors. As and additional finding, a high rate of radiation-induced mesenchymal skin tumors was ascertained in the NMRI-breed employée.
