Abstract

A case of lingual thyroid associated with mental retardation and bilateral sensorineural hearing loss is presented. Cases of lingual thyroid are rarely reported and usually not in combination with other abnormalities. The theoretical etiology of such association as a result of an intrauterine infection is discussed.
