Diagnostic ultrasound provides a high degree of accuracy in differentiation of cystic structures such as hydrocele and spermatocele and solid lesions in cases of testicular masses. Extratesticular lesions can be distinguished from testicular processes. Differentiation between tumors and inflammatory lesions is not possible in all cases. Immersion ultrasound produces a clear overview with good demonstration of anatomic relations and reveals excellently the echotexture by means of the compound effect.
