Within the wide range of topics embraced in the subject of geriatric medicine, a division may be made as far as teaching is concerned into: 1. those that could be taught by other people; 2. those that should be taught by other people; 3. those that cannot be taught by other people. If attitudes throughout the medical school were appropriately positive then only group 3 need be taught by geriatricians. However, as things are, they must participate in teaching in all groups and the conference has successfully indicated ways in which this may be done. It has also stressed the importance of developing positive attitudes towards ageing and old age among teachers as well as students, as a major part of education.
在老年医学这一学科所涵盖的广泛主题范围内，就教学而言，可以分为：1. 可由其他人讲授的内容；2. 应由其他人讲授的内容；3. 不能由其他人讲授的内容。如果医学院校的整体态度适当积极，那么只有第3组内容需要由老年病学家讲授。然而，就目前的情况而言，他们必须参与所有组别的教学，本次会议已成功指出了进行教学的方法。会议还强调了在教师和学生中培养对衰老和老年的积极态度的重要性，这是教育的一个主要部分。
