The TOG Club (teachers of geriatrics in the London area) was formed in 1972 with the major objective of ensuring that the teaching of geriatric medicine featured in the regulations for the degrees of MB, BS, in the University of London, and by following this up with pressure to have departments of geriatric medicine participate in such teaching. A second objective was to be represented in examinations. Both of these objectives have been attended with a good deal of success, but there are still medical schools in London where teaching on the subject remains rudimentary.
