Lymphocytes from healthy tuberculin reactors, but not those from patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and positive tuberculin skin test, were able to respond drastically to the in vitro purified protein derivative (PPD) stimulation with a marked increase in active T lymphocytes. Furthermore, the active T lymphocytes, but not late T lymphocytes, from normals were able to secrete a soluble factor (lymphokine)which was capable of activating in vitro the active T lymphocytes of the patients.
来自健康结核菌素反应阳性者的淋巴细胞，而非来自活动性肺结核且结核菌素皮肤试验阳性患者的淋巴细胞，能够对体外纯化蛋白衍生物（PPD）刺激产生强烈反应，活性T淋巴细胞显著增加。此外，正常个体的活性T淋巴细胞而非晚期T淋巴细胞能够分泌一种可溶性因子（淋巴因子），该因子能够在体外激活患者的活性T淋巴细胞。
