Hemophilus influenzae is increasingly recognized as an important pathogen in a wide spectrum of diseases in adults. It is often implicated in the infectious exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and it is a frequent cause of pneumonia in adults. The recent recognition of ampicillin-resistant strains should be a reminder to obtain beta-lactamase or antibiotic susceptibility testing when H. influenzae is isolated in specimens from patients with lower respiratory infections.
流感嗜血杆菌越来越被认为是成人多种疾病中的重要病原体。它常与慢性支气管炎的感染性加重有关，也是成人肺炎的常见病因。最近对氨苄西林耐药菌株的认识提醒我们，当从下呼吸道感染患者的标本中分离出流感嗜血杆菌时，应进行β-内酰胺酶或抗生素敏感性检测。
