Cryptococcus infection is probably more frequent than is commonly supposed; in fact, it has been estimated that there are 2,000 undiagnosed cases for every proved case of infection due to Cryptococcus neoformans. Prostatic involvement with cryptococcus is not commonplace, but it should be kept in mind when granulomatous changes are noted microscopically in the proper clinical setting. Presented here is the sixth case reported to date presenting with prostatic obstruction.
