Poliovirus vaccines (Salk-type and Sabin-type) have virtually eliminated paralytic poliomyelitis. Important subjects of study are the back-mutation of the type 3 degrees, the effect of the Sabin vaccine in addition to Salk vaccine, the development of vaccines to virus substructures and the synthetic-vaccines.
