Gentamicin tolerance by the eye tissues was studied on 34 rabbits. Gentamicin was administered into the conjunctival sac, under the conjunctiva, into the anterior chamber or vitreous body of the eye. The study showed that instillation of 0.5-1 per cent gentamicin solution into the conjunctival sac had no damaging effect on the eye. For instillation under the conjunctiva it is recommended that gentamicin be used in a dose of 20-40 mg in 0.5 ml of sodium chloride isotonic solution. For administration into the anterior chamber or vitreous body of the eye the dose is 0.5 mg/ml.
