The paper presents the results of experiments with the carrot tissues infected with Agrobacterium tumefaciens flown onboard the biosatellite Cosmos-1129 in cooperation with the US scientists. Postflight, the respiratory activity of tumour cells was determined and K+ and Na+ permeability of cell membranes was measured. The resulting data give evidence that in weightlessness the development of the carrot gall tumour is accompanied by changes in the above physiological and biochemical parameters. The changes are, however, within the physiological limits, leading to no pathologies of the whole cell.
