Goblet-cell carcinoid of the vermiform process is a well-differentiated epithelial tumor consisting predominantly of mucus-forming cells among which endocrine and Paneth's cells are found not infrequently. Despite the invasive nature of the tumor growth, the prognosis of the disease is most frequently favourable, although not as much as in carcinoid of the vermiform process. Considering the cell composition and the level of the tumor tissue differentiation, the so-called goblet-cell carcinoid should be regarded as a peculiar invasive mucous adenoma but not as a variety of carcinoid (apudoma).
阑尾杯状细胞类癌是一种分化良好的上皮性肿瘤，主要由黏液形成细胞组成，其中内分泌细胞和潘氏细胞也不少见。尽管肿瘤生长具有侵袭性，但该病的预后通常较好，不过不像阑尾类癌那样好。考虑到细胞组成和肿瘤组织分化程度，所谓的杯状细胞类癌应被视为一种特殊的侵袭性黏液腺瘤，而不是类癌（嗜银细胞瘤）的一种。
