The wide-spreading ulcers with surface gangrene usually occur in elderly female patients who also hav visceral lesions associated with atheromatosis. Their development is long and irregular. Local or general recurrence is common. The purely symptomatic treatment will be aimed particularly at the prevention of superinfection.
