Corneal curvature in the fetal alcohol syndrome: preliminary report.

In a preliminary report of the ocular characteristics of the fetal alcohol syndrome, (FAS) 17 Southwestern Indian FAS children were examined for ocular care. Of the seventeen examined, 12 could be measured with keratometry. 100% had corneal curvature of 45.75 and greater with an average horizontal curvature of 47.55 diopters and an average vertical curvature of 49.35 diopters. Steep corneal curvature was found to be a consistent and major characteristic of these FAS children.
