Study of immunostimulant factor (ISF) formation by splenocytes of the animals poisoned with CCl4 and elucidation of the role played by red cells in the induction of the process have demonstrated that supernatant of intact rat splenocytes does not affect the immune response induced by sheep red blood cells in syngeneic animals. The splenocytes of the rats poisoned with hepatotropic venom secrete ISF into the cultural medium. The splenocytes of normal rats given injections of red cells from the poisoned rats form ISF. The red cells of normal animals treated with the poisoned rat serum have been also shown to be capable of inducing ISF formation.
