The main principles of the ovarian steroid hormones synthesis are discussed on the basis of recent literature. The role of special cell lines in the ovarian synthesis also the differences concerning steroidogenesis of the foeto-placental unit are pointed out. In the foeto-placental steroidogenesis the detailed role of trophoblastic syncytium and foetal organs are shown.
