Although fairly uncommon, the maternal complications after caesarean section must not be disregarded, as they may lead to sequelae. Among 1154 c.s. the course of the operation itself was uncomplicated in 92,8%. The 33,5% incidence of the post-operative complications found in the present material is in the order of previous publications. The complications occurred more frequently in acute than in elective c.s. Two patients developed fistulae secondarily. There were no deaths. Half the patients, who later conceived, had repeat c.s. A case history of vesico-vaginal fistula is reported.
