A nonsurgical and atraumatic method for avulsing dystrophic nails is described. Thirty-five patients with a variety of nail abnormalities were successfully treated using urea preparations under occlusive dressings. The method has many advantages and appears ideal for patients with digital vascular insufficiency and increased susceptibility to infection.
