The subject of the present study is the morphology of changes in the head of the femur in advanced osteoarthrosis of the hip, with particular reference to the production of osteophytes, the frequency with which these are observed, the part they play in the development of the anatomical and pathological changes, and their relevance to treatment other than total replacement operations (for example, valgus osteotomy in extension).
