[Cholesteatoma following tympanostomy (author's transl)].

12 cases of cholesteatomas of the middle ear were found 5 months to 3 years after myringotomy and insertions of ventilation tubes. The occurrence of these cholesteatomas could be related to the tympanostomy in every case, and was due to either improper myringotomy or poor-controlled removal of the tympanostomy tube.
