A relatively new group of paraprofessionals is making waves in the optometric community -- the optometric technician. Programs are opening up from coast to coast to supply the demand. Individual program curricula have their differences but also many commonalities. National registration may dictate more standardization of training; hopefully a prospective employee may be in a better position to critically evaluate a prospective graduate.
