This study indicates that despite a growing concern for the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients, most 'living-in' programs do not optimize parental presence. The survey points to a need for continued education for professionals, for the general public, and for parents about to admit their children regarding the psychological and developmental needs of hospitalized.
