This paper describes the approach used by the F-16 System Program Office to develop occupational and environmental health criteria and guidance for the design and support of a hydrazine (N2H4) fueled Emergency Power System. Because of the early integration of the medical and industrial hygiene communities in the aircraft and sub-system development process, evaluations of exposures to hydrazine during maintenance activities resulted in timely and significant engineering and logistics support improvements.
