Abstract

Since blepharoplasty can mean almost any surgery involving the eyelids, it is necessary that during the evaluation of the patient, his expectations be realistically correlated with the limitations and probable outcome of the operation. Specific examination points include scars, pigmentation, wrinkles, and symmetry of the brows and lids. Tone of the lower lids is checked to eliminate postoperative ectropion. Lastly, cosmetic vs functional blepharoplasty is defined.
