The formation of debris in human blood, stored under standard blood bank conditions, was investigated by measuring debris weight, screen filtration pressure (SFP) and counting the number of aggregates. Formation of microaggregates was most pronounced in blood five to fifteen days old as was the SFP. A tendency of progressive increase was found in debris weight with storage time.
