The author warns against the abusive use of renal ultrasonography in urological disorders without previous intravenous urography investigations. It is also of fundamental importance to obtain perfect tomography images of the kidneys before requesting ultrasonography examinations, in patients with renal insufficiency. In urological practice, ultrasonography can only be correctly interpreted by the aid of anatomical data from radiological investigations, of which intravenous urography is by far the most important.
