Abstract

Five adults with cystic hygromas underwent excisional surgery. The preoperative diagnosis is rarely made in adults; branchial cleft cyst is the most common preoperative impression. The histologic differentiation between these two lesions is described. Our experience indicates that surgery of cystic hygromas in the adult is not associated with the technical problems encountered in infants and children.
