Aldehyde-fuchsin stainable secretory granules were found in the epithelium of the pyloric part of the mouse stomach. The granules are PAS-negative and nonstainable with lead hematoxylin. In intact mice only a small zone of the pylorus is engaged in production of such granules. Alpha-adrenergic stimulation causes expansion of the zone containing the granules. In mice exposed to general chilling after the propanolol injections there is a sharp extension of the zone in which the specific granules are distributed.
