Two groups of patients subjected in the past to gastric resection for peptic ulcer were examined. The normally functioning stump of the resected stomach was found to possess a certain optimum of preserved secretory activity which can be different and dependent first of all on the initial preoperative condition. Such a stump of the resected stomach has its own tone and peristaltic activity which provides a rhythmic-portional type of evacuation. The stated above supports the validity of the term "normally functioning stump of the resected stomach".
对过去因消化性溃疡接受胃切除术的两组患者进行了检查。发现切除胃的功能正常的残端具有一定的最佳保留分泌活性，这种活性可能不同，首先取决于术前的初始状况。切除胃的这种残端有其自身的张力和蠕动活动，可提供节律性比例排空类型。上述内容支持了“切除胃的功能正常的残端”这一术语的合理性。
