Photoplethysmography is a technique for investigating changes in tissue opacity. Applied on human teeth it demonstrated the changes occurring in dental pulp circulation during different conditions as deep inspiration, Valsalva maneuver, cooling and compression. It is suggested that the photoplethysmography can be used as a vitality test for human teeth especially after recent traumas and orthodontic treatments.
