The registration of locomotor activity in hyperalgesic rats has been shown to be a simple and objective method to demonstrate the antialgesic activity of NSAI. Aspirin-like drugs significantly antagonize the pain-produced reduction in motility of hyperalgesic rats. It has also been demonstrated that new potent anti-inflammatory methanesulfonanilides, which do not inhibit PG-synthesis in vitro and are almost inactive in Writhing models, exhibit potent antialgesic activity in this model.
