Bartholinitis--an unusual etiologic agent.

Streptococcus pneumoniae type 4 was isolated in pure culture from a Bartholin's gland abscess in a 26-year-old woman, gravida 3. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report describing this agent as a cause of bartholinitis.
