A mode of reinfusion of the ascitic fluid is described as combined with a simultaneous forcing of diuresis by the use of several diuretics of different action mechanisms. The results of the treatment of 20 patients with cirrhosis with edemo-ascitic syndrome are described. The treatment resulted in an increased diuresis, improved protein and electrolytic composition of the blood. A relatively stable liquidation of the edema-ascitic syndrome has been achieved.
