Ten cases of "catheterization" sepsis are described which were observed during 8 years. The complication developed after catheterization of the femur vein (4 cases) and the subclavian vein (6 cases). Six patients died. The main prophylactic measures are limitation of indications for continuous catheterization of large veins and strict observation of aseptic and antiseptic rules while inserting the catheters, their subsequent care and performing infusions.
