Cancers in dogs and cats are similar to those in man in several respects (metastasis, recurrence). The literature on studies of the biological behavior of various forms of malignant disease is reviewed. Of the statistically tested variables, the size and type of growth were found to be of importance from the point of view of prognosis in the majority of tumours.
