Aspiration pneumonia occurs in many clinical situations and has far-reaching pulmonary consequences. The chest radiograph may suggest or support the diagnosis. Aspiration of gastric contents leads to exudation of fluid into air spaces, causing an alveolar infiltrate. Although its radiographic pattern may suggest pulmonary edema, aspiration of gastric contents can be distinguished by a normal pulmonary capillary wedge pressure. Aspiration of particulate matter causes airways obstruction and atelectasis. Most commonly there is a shifting mixed infiltrate in the lower lobes.
吸入性肺炎发生于多种临床情况中，且会对肺部产生深远影响。胸部X线片可能提示或支持该诊断。胃内容物的误吸会导致液体渗入气腔，引起肺泡浸润。虽然其影像学表现可能提示肺水肿，但胃内容物误吸可通过正常的肺毛细血管楔压来鉴别。颗粒物质的误吸会导致气道阻塞和肺不张。最常见的是下叶出现移动性混合浸润影。
