Sepsis is a pathogenetically homogeneous, but phenomenologically very different syndrome on whose clinical appearance numerous factors may have influence. It is determined by the triad: focus of the sepsis, presence of an infectious agent in the flowing blood and septic settlements. Only the knowledge of the pathogenetic connections renders the prerequisite for the understanding of symptomatology and picture of the course and allows the adequate diagnostic and different therapeutic measures which must be adapted to every individual case.
