A discussion of "The Use of Psychoanalytic concepts in Crisis Intervention," by Robert Glick, M.D., and Arthur T. Myerson, M.D. Crisis intervention and psychoanalysis are frequently considered antagonistic or antithetical. Reasons for this seeming incompatibility of the two therapeutic modes are discussed along with the ways in which psychoanalytic concepts and techniques are used in crisis intervention. It is concluded that, while different, the two modalities are not antagonistic but extremely compatible.
