Pesticide regulations in Egypt to avoid hazards to the environment and human health.

This paper describes the regulation of pesticides in Egypt and the ways these regulations protect the environment and human health. The role of DDT and other chemical pesticides in the protection of plants and animals from disease and infection. Using as an example, cotton and two of its pests, the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis, (Boisd.) and the pink bollworm, Pectinophera gossypiella (Saund.), measures taken to minimize pesticide applications are presented. Finally, the regulatory structure and its enabling legislation are examined.
