["Recurrence" of in situ carcinoma of the cervix ? (author's transl)].

Atypical epithelium, adjacent to normal tissue, was removed along with diagnostic conisation from 243 patients with in situ carcinoma. That approach actually proved to be the adequate therapy. Not a single recurrence was recorded from any of the patients over follow-up periods between two and 13 years. The causes of possible "recurrences" are discussed. There is no need, at present, for giving up the proven therapeutic concept to cope with in situ carcinoma, provided that certain conditions are duly observed.
