It has been shown by means of morphometrical studies on 40 human hearts after acute heart infarction and 44 controls that in the cases of heart infarction the volume density of the microarterial vessels is diminished in comparison to controls. This decrease of volume density of intramural myocardial vessels is appreciated as a factor of vile for the development of an ischemic heart disease.
