alpha-Bungarotoxin-acetylcholine receptor localization has been studied by means of light and electron microscope autoradiography. The present results suggest that the receptors are located in the neuropil (probably on dendrites) and in the neuronal cytoplasm. The silver grains do not appear localized at postsynaptic level. According to previous electrophysiological data, the present results suggest that in the rat superior cervical ganglion the alpha-bungarotoxin-acetylcholine receptors are not involved in synapticc transmission.
