As to glomerulonephritis the morphological classification principle as the most differentiated one stood the test. Nevertheless, up to the present time an unclear situation developed which shall be overcome by a WHO-proposal. In this classification the histologically descriptive findings are the basis, in which immunohistologic and electron-microscopic knowledge is included. But the disease of the patient can be estimated comprehensively only then, when also anamnestic, clinical, paraclinical and etiological data are evaluated which can be given only be the clinician. However, the WHO-classification, too, is not "perfect", but according to our own experiences has vastly proved and gives internationally the possibility of a homogeneous judgment.
