Frozen section examination of endometrial curettings. An aid to the rapid diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.

The maternal mortality resulting from extrauterine pregnancy has been related to delayed intervention following the onset of symptoms. Therefore, methods that can rapidly include or exclude an ectopic pregnancy are of value. In selected cases dilatation and curettage, with frozen section examination of the curetted tissue, has been utilized to confirm an abnormal intrauterine pregnancy and vitually rule out an extrauterine pregnancy.
